Open Studios 2014 - 3rd, 4th & 5th May 2014
We hope you have a great time visiting lots of us! You’ll find many new participants in Open Studios 2013, some at the very beginning of their artistic careers, others are well known names. All studios are open for 3 days, Sat 4th – Mon 6th May. You’ll find clusters of studios only minutes apart and single studios in more rural locations worth going to for the views as well as the work on show! We have provided maps and directions for each studio but if you are not familiar with the area you might want to bring a road map.
You may notice that many other groups and individuals choose to hold exhibitions on the same weekend as Open Studios North Fife and sometimes use similar signage. You will be able to identify open studio artists who have paid the participation fee which funds this brochure and the extensive advertising of this event by the colourful Open Studios logo, with a number on it corresponding to studio numbers in the brochure, on our white and black sign boards.
Make sure you add your name to the mailing list of any artist whose work you admire to receive notice of other events in which they are taking part.
Open Studios is an event organised by volunteers and is one of very few such events which is focussed on artists who practise in the area opening their work spaces rather than borrowing or hiring exhibition venues. We know that half the fun is seeing into the interesting spaces in which work is created! (A few participants have to share venues because of legal/safety restrictions with their own places but all are required to have their permanent studio in the area.)
You will be able to pay some participants with your credit card but most do not have this facility so remember to bring a cheque book or cash if you plan to purchase!
